How to Purchase/License Crimestar Products

To purchase a license for Crimestar software complete the Crimestar Order Form and mail or fax it to Crimestar Corporation for processing.

Once your order has been processed you will be provided with license Activation Key information to "Unlock" the software based upon the number of user licenses purchased. The license Activation Key is a special combination of letters and numbers that is evaluated against the licensee's name and the number of licenses purchased.

Please read the End User License Agreement (EULA.txt) file that was provided as part of the software installation for more specific details on the licensing methods and restrictions for each respective Crimestar software product.

When you receive the Activation Key information from Crimestar Corporation you will need to register that license with the software via the CrimeStar Registration Form. Select ‘Help’ from the main menu. Then select ‘About CrimeStar’ from the Help menu. At the bottom of the ‘About CrimeStar’ form is a button labeled ‘Register’, click this button to activate the registration form, enter and save the license Activation Key information.

Once the user license has been changed from ‘EVALUATION’ to your Agency Name, the default ‘EVAL’ login will no longer work, unless you have explicitly created it in the CrimeStar system security module. If you have created another user login with ‘SYSTEM/ADMIN’ capability, use that login to enter the system and create, modify or delete other user login information. If CrimeStar detects that there are no users in the security system that have SYSTEM/ADMIN capability, it will automatically create a user entry with a login ID of ADMIN and a password of PASSWORD. Use this login to enter the system and establish valid user logins and assign them access to modules respectively. This login will not, by default, be authorized to access any of the system modules, it is intended only as a mechanism to get you started and prevent sites from being totally locked out of the system.

When entering this password information it should be in all UPPER CASE. Please be sure to check the status of the CAPS LOCK key and make sure that the NUM LOCK is turned off, as it may interfere with the proper entry of your password.

If you are effectively, locked out, because you have a user login with Admin capability but can not remember the password, contact Crimestar Corporation. You will be provided with a temporary master password that will permit access to the system, but will expire at the end of the day.
