Warning Banners

Crimestar provides a series of warning banners to alert the user that a person has other associations or records within the system that the user may want to be aware of. These Warning Banners will automatically popup and flash on the screen. Clicking on a banner will cause Crimestar to open the source record that is responsible for the banner being activated. While this system feature is very handy and prompts officers for important information, in some cases you may want these banners suppressed so they do not keep popping up on the screen. Crimestar provides you with the ability to control each type of warning banner separately on each workstation, so you can have the feature active on some computers but suppressed on others. To suppress a particular Warning Banner on a particular workstation set the following entries in the Crimestar.Ini file according to which banner you wish to suppress. Setting an entry to OFF will leave the banner active, while setting the entry to ON will turn on the suppression for that banner.

SUPPRESS_BOL_BANNER=OFF

SUPPRESS_CAUTION_BANNER=OFF

SUPPRESS_CIVIL_BANNER=OFF

SUPPRESS_FIREARM_BANNER=OFF

SUPPRESS_JUVENILE_BANNER=OFF

SUPPRESS_REGISTRANT_BANNER=OFF

SUPPRESS_WARRANT_BANNER=OFF

The following criteria is used by the software to Activate warning Banners:

The BOL Banner is activated when the user searches on a Name or vehicle license plate number where that name or license plate number exists in the BOL file.

The Caution Banner is activated when any of the caution flags (checkboxes) on the subjects Master Name Index record are checked and the user searches the system for that specific name.

The Civil Banner is activated when the user searches for the name of a person/subject that is linked to a civil record where that name has specifically been flagged on the civil record to "Generate a Civil Alert for this subject".

The Firearm Banner is activated when the user searches on a Name of a person who has a firearm registration record in their name regardless of any firearms registered to him/her.

The Juvenile Banner is activated when the user searches for a person/subject who has one or more Juvenile Involvements in his/her history based on the configured Juvenile threshold value and the data of the Involvement. Note, this flag DOES NOT MEAN THE PERSON IS A JUVENILE, but rather that he/she has a Juvenile history.

The Registrant Banner is activated when the user searches on a Name of a person who has an entry or record in the Registrant Module.

The Warrant Banner is activated when the user searches on a Name of a person who has a entry or record in the Warrant Module, where the status of the warrant is Active ("ACT").
