It is often asked: "What kind of printer should I use with CrimeStar?"

CrimeStar has been designed to produce a wide variety of reports and printed documents. Many of these documents can be quite detailed and use small fonts or point sizes. It is recommended that you use either a laser printer ( 300dpi or more ) or a high quality InkJet type printer. The laser printers are faster and more economical to operate, as the number of printed pages you get from a typical toner cartridge is considerable greater (sometimes 5X) than the number of printed pages that you get from an ink cartridge depending upon the type of printing you routinely do.

We might caution you against a copier/printer subscription service where some vendor provides you the copier/printer and you merely a fee for every page you print. Often times these devices charge you more for color printing that for black & white printing. Crimestar will often make use of color and unless you se the printer drivers to expressly print in black & white, you may find that the premium price you are charged for color output can get expensive.
