Master Address / Location Index

The Master Location Index is a separate database table that contains a reference to each address that has been listed or used in the Crimestar RMS system. By searching the Master Address/Location Index you can obtain a comprehensive list of activity that is associated with that address. In order to ensure that the Master Address/Location index is as complete as possible, CrimeStar users should build a comprehensive geofile and make a habit of validating addresses whenever possible. This will help ensure consistency regarding addresses. Please realize that to the computer "123 Main Street" and "123 Main Avenue" are two different addresses. Validating addresses against a known geofile can help to filter out these types of ambiguities and make the Master Address/Location Index much more concise and beneficial. Having said that, it should be understood that the Master Address Index and the Geofile are two separate sections of the Crimestar program. When you search against the Master Address Index you are searching a database of addresses referenced by persons contacted and not the geofile itself.

The Master Address/Location Index automatically captures and Indexes the following Address Information.

·   Accident Module: The address location of the accident.

·   Arrest & Booking Module: The address location of the arrest.

·   Calls For Service Module: The address location of the call.

·   Citation Module: The address location of the citation.

·   Incident Module: The address location of the incident.

·   Master Name Index: The address location of the person.
