Item #

This field is used to enter/display a unique identification number for a property item within a specific incident report. Property Item numbers are either numeric or alphanumeric depending on how you have configured your system. All item # references are stored in a character data field in the database. This allows for number AND letters to be stored in the database. As such their natural sort order is alphabetic (left-to-right) rather than numeric. If it is important that item # values appear in numerical order, be sure use preceeding zero’s, when applicable so that the alphabetically sorted numeric digits will appear in numerical order.
