C0000005 Error

The Crimestar RMS system was developed using advanced Microsoft software development tools. While Microsoft’s software provides an excellent development environment and encompasses a powerful database, this system like all others can at times experience system errors. CrimeStar Corporation has taken measures to trap all trappable error and log them to an error log file so that the contents of that file can be examined in an effort to eliminate errors whenever possible. However, it is possible that some errors can occur within the runtime engine or the Windows operating system itself and can not be directly resolved by CrimeStar Corporation.

The most notable error that you may encounter is the "Fatal Exception C0000005" error. This error is the equivalent of a General Protection Fault (GPF) which can occur within the operating system levels of the program, beyond the realm of CrimeStar Corporations control. Things that can contribute to this type of error include certain; printer drivers, video cards and drivers, as well as other software that has been installed on your computer regardless if it is running at the time the error occurs.

Microsoft is aware of this and other such error conditions and continues to work to resolve them. Many of these conditions are documented in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. This list of documented issues can be found on the Microsoft web site at www.microsoft.com. CrimeStar makes every effort to follow the guidance provided by Microsoft on this and other issues to try to make Crimestar RMS as bug free as possible. Never the less, CrimeStar RMS can experience errors that are beyond the realm of CrimeStar Corporations control or ability to repair. As such your cooperation to carefully document exactly what you were doing if and when such an error occurs will help CrimeStar Corporation engineers to avoid these types of errors whenever possible.
