Map Zoom Control

There are two ways to zoom the CrimeStar map display.

Method #1: The Zoom Control

There is a Sliding Zoom control located immediately to the right of the Map display. Using your mouse click on the zoom control. Then either using the mouse or the up and down arrow keys move the sliding control up or down. This action will change the scale or zoom factor of the map from ½ mile to 20 miles, where each tick mark on the slider control represents ½ of a mile. The map will zoom in maintaining the same point of reference in the center of the map

Method #2 Dragging a Polygon on the Map.

Once you identify the area of the map you wish to view, place the mouse pointer at the upper left corner of the area you wish to view. Then While holding down the left mouse button, drag the mouse down and to the right. This will create a temporary visible polygon or rectangle on the map page. When the polygon has completely enclosed the area you wish to view, release the left mouse button and the map will to the area defined by the polygon created.
