Crimestar CAD operates via the TCP/UDP protocol on a high speed Ethernet network.  Multiple CAD workstations should be run on the same network segment so they can communicate with each other and with other optional related products provided by Crimestar.  

The MDC Controller software should be installed and run on a separate dedicated Pentium class (or faster) network computer within the same LAN segment as other CAD workstations. The controller interacts directly with the Crimestar RMS/CAD database as well as sending TCP/IP-UDP broadcast messages to other CAD network workstations.  The MDC Controller can be connected directly to an RF Modem via a serial port (as diagrammed below) or to a commercial IP Network (such as GPRS).
