CrimeStar maintains an MNI record for each person entered into the system. When a new record is entered into the system and a Master Name Index record already exist, a decision must be made as to weather the new data being entered should overwrite the data that is already in the Master Name Index record. By default CrimeStar makes the assumption that the most current data is the most accurate and will overwrite the data in the MNI record accordingly. If however you do not want CrimeStar to perform this way, you turn off the MNI Data Overwrite option. By doing so, CrimeStar will preserve the data in the existing MNI record and will only update those fields in the MNI record that are blank.
This option can be set from the ‘Name Index’ page of the Configuration Form.
