MDC - Voice Commands

The Crimestar MDC workstation has the ability to respond to certain voice commands via speech recognition technology to ease system navigation and allow for limited hands free operation.  The ability to utilize speech recognition is dependent upon the Microsoft SAPI5 or later speech recognition engine being installed on the computer.  The speech recognition engine, if it is not already installed on your computer can be obtained free of charge from Microsoft's web site.  The following table lists the voice commands that can be used with the MDC Workstation. ( Voice Commands are deactivated on the MDC Controller.)

Before any voice commands can be issued the Voice/Speech Recognition option must be activated from the programs Options menu.  Once Activated the speech recognition is active but not in listening mode.  Speech related commands will only be processed after you instruct the MDC software to Start Listening using the "MDC Start Listening" verbal command.  Once in listening mode other verbal commands will be processed.  To Discontinue processing verbal commands either verbally instruct the MDC to Stop Listening or deactivate the Voice/Speech Recognition.
