About Crimestar MDC

The Crimestar Mobile Data Communicator (MDC) is a powerful, in field, real-time, digital communication system for officers.  

The MDC is primarily an extension to Crimestar CAD that provides field units with CAD and RMS related data.  

The system allows officers in the field to be;

• Silently dispatched to calls

• Notify dispatch, and other units, when they are responding or have arrived on an event.

• Monitor all CAD event and unit activity

• Maintain their own status for assigned calls/events

• Provide call/event dispositions and disposition comments

• Send car-to-dispatch / car-to-car administrative messages

• Perform Name, Vehicle, Property and CAD Event searches.
  
  

Crimestar's MDC utilizes advanced data compression and encryption to provide all communications in a private, rapid secure format.  The MDC system is GPS and map enabled providing a real-time vehicle tracking (i.e. Automated Vehicle Location: AVL) via latitude/longitude coordinates for field units and events.  This allows field units as well as dispatchers to visualize via interactive maps where units are and where things are happening.

Utilizing its own packet messaging protocol, the MDC can work over either a dedicated radio system utilizing RF Modems or via GPRS/CDMA networks provided by various commercial carriers in different regions of the country.   

When installed the Crimestar Message Switch Gateway (MSG) can be accessed directly through the MDC system allowing various State CJIS and NCIC transactions to be run directly from your mobile units.
